Perform a visual inspection of the exterior of the building by walking the entire perimeter, checking windows, doors, and sides of the building for any potential problems. Look for signs of pest and insect infestation around the exterior of the home. Also, include a visual inspection of the pool and spa. Walk the interior perimeter and check for any problems, including signs of pest and insect infestation inside the home. Run water in all sinks, bathtubs, and showers to keep traps from drying out and to prevent sewer gases from entering your home; remember to close all drains after use. Check under all sinks for leaks and flush and brush all toilets. Ensure that the air conditioning and heating systems are operating properly. If applicable, run water through the refrigerator drinking water line and run the garbage disposal to lubricate and maintain the appliance. Water interior plants if needed. Check ceilings and skylights for any signs of roof leaks, and inspect the laundry room for leaks. Pour water into the washing machine drain once a month to prevent sewer gases from entering the home. Examine the hot water heater for any signs of leaks and check the soft water tank for salt if applicable. Don’t forget to change air filters regularly.
